Titanic: Honor & Glory 2026 — Walking Among the Giants

Titanic: Honor and Glory
For over a decade, the promise of Titanic: Honor & Glory has been simple but staggering: to rebuild every single room, bolt, and rivet of the world’s most famous ocean liner. In 2026, that promise is finally transitioning from a series of demos into a living, breathing Alpha experience.

1. The Launch of the THG Alpha (The "Belfast" Era)

The most exciting shift this year is the move to the Shipyard Alpha. Instead of just exploring a finished ship, players are now taken back to Harland & Wolff’s Belfast Shipyard circa 1911.

  • The Living Shipyard: You can now explore a recreation of the massive Arrol Gantry and the surrounding shops where the ship’s furniture and steel plating were prepared.

  • The "Build" Concept: As the developers finish a room, it is "installed" into the ship in the gantry. This allows supporters to walk the unfinished decks and see the skeleton of the liner as it grows in real-time.

  • Dynamic Weather: Powered by Unreal Engine 5, you can now experience the shipyard in rain, snow, or fog, with lighting that reacts realistically to the time of day.

2. Project 401: The "Megademo" V2.1

While the Alpha is the future, Project 401 (formerly Demo 401) remains the definitive exploration experience for the public.

  • 50% of the Ship: V2.1 is currently the largest playable version of the ship ever released. It covers roughly half of the vessel, including the iconic First Class spaces, Scotland Road, the Turkish Baths, and the Boiler Rooms.

  • UE5 Visuals: The leap to Unreal Engine 5 has introduced Lumen (real-time global illumination). The way the light flickers off the chandeliers in the Reception Room or reflects in the polished mahogany of the Grand Staircase is nothing short of photorealistic.

3. The Big Event: April 14, 2026

Mark your calendars. To commemorate the 114th anniversary of the disaster, the team is hosting the Titanic Anniversary Weekend 2026 live from aboard the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach.

The highlight will be the 10th Anniversary Real-Time Sinking Animation. This is a complete ground-up remake featuring:

  • Advanced Physics: New breakup and sinking analysis based on the latest wreck data from RMS Titanic, Inc.

  • Animated Inhabitants: For the first time, the sinking will feature fully animated passengers and crew in period-correct attire, bringing a haunting human element to the simulation.

  • Historical Accuracy: Expect minor layout corrections (like the updated E-Deck cabin paneling) that only the most dedicated "Titanic nerds" would notice—but that's the level of perfection the THG team is known for.

💡 Tips for New Explorers

  1. Visit the "Witness Titanic" Hub: The project has expanded into a massive historical repository. Check out the Witness Titanic Podcast within the game’s menu for expert deep-dives into the lives of the people who were actually there.

  2. Hardware Check: To run the Alpha or Project 401 with the new Lumen lighting, you'll want at least an RTX 30-series card. If your PC is struggling, try disabling Ray Tracing in the settings; the standard UE5 lighting is still incredible.

  3. Read the Paper: Almost every object in the 1st Class lounge is interactable. You can pick up and read actual newspapers from April 1912, perfectly recreated with legible text.

Final Thoughts

Titanic: Honor & Glory is no longer just a "sinking simulator." It has evolved into a digital museum and a monument to the Edwardian era. Whether you want to study the plumbing on F-Deck or simply stand on the bow and watch the sun set over a digital Atlantic, the "Ship of Dreams" is closer than it has ever been.

Will you be joining the livestream on April 14th? Or are you currently lost somewhere in the maze of Scotland Road? Let’s talk about it in the comments!

OpenRA is a free and open source real-time strategy game engine for early Westwood games like Command & Conquer: Red Alert.
